Protein Energy Malnutrition in preschool tribe’s children of Chhattisgarh
Objective: The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence of protein energy malnutrition(PEM) by anthropometric measurements in preschool children of tribal community of Chhattisgarh. Material and Methods: A total of 449 children [237 boys and 212 girls] from 286 families were selected randomly. Anthropometric measurements were done as per standard protocol. متن کاملDialysis Malnutrition and Malnutrition Inflammation Scores: screening tools for prediction of dialysis-related protein-energy wasting in Malaysia.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Malnutrition is highly prevalent in Malaysian dialysis patients and there is a need for a valid screening tool for early identification and management. This cross-sectional study aims to examine the sensitivity of the Dialysis Malnutrition Score (DMS) and Malnutrition Inflammation Score (MIS) tools in predicting protein-energy wasting (PEW) among Malaysian dialysis pat...
متن کاملMalnutrition and atherosclerosis in dialysis patients.
Longitudinal associations of malnutrition with atherosclerotic events in uremia are unclear. In 50,732 incident Medicare dialysis patients who had normal (18.5 to 24.9 kg/m(2)), low (<18.5 kg/m(2)), or high (> or = 25 kg/m(2)) body mass index (BMI) and initiated dialysis in the United States from January 1995 to December 1999 with reported measured creatinine clearances and acute coronary syndr...
متن کاملMalnutrition in Patients on Dialysis Treatment
Many factors contribute to morbidity and mortality in patients with end-stage renal disease, one of these being malnutrition. Eating disorders are inevitable in patients with uremia. A common associated factor is inflammation with hypoalbuminemia and decrease in serum proteins. In the present study, data on 33 (38.37%) female and 53 (61.63%) male patients were assessed with standard statistical...
متن کاملHigh energy feeding in protein-energy malnutrition.
The use of a high-fat diet in malnourished children produced accelerated growth of lean tissues as well as adipose tissue, and resulted in rapid nutirtional rehabilitation in 25 seriously malnourished babies. Such diets are easy to prepare and relatively cheap, and they offer important advantages over conventional feeding in the hospital treatment of malnourished children.
